Alternate each night by taking half your usual dose of sleeping tablets the one night, then the next night take your normal full dose, and

continue taking 1 x Meltonin SR every night.

Week 4 & 5:

Take half your usual dose of sleeping tablets every night, and

continue taking 1 x Meltonin SR every night.

Week 6, 7 &  8:

Alternate nights: take half your usual dose of sleeping tablets the one night; then the second night take no sleeping tablets at all, and

Continue taking 1 x Meltonin SR every night.

Week 9 onwards stop taking your sleeping tablets completely, and for at least 3-6 months continue with 1 x Melatonin Slow Release at night.  You may then come off melatonin if you want, although its actually quite good for you (reduces risk of cancer, protects brain nerves & the heart, and has powerful antioxidant anti-aging  and immune boosting effects).

Also use SOLAL Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide): 1 tablet twice daily, after meals thoughout this period (reference: Vescovi, P. P. et al.  Nicotinic acid effectiveness in the treatment of benzodiazepine withdrawal.  Curr Ther Res.  41:1017, 1987).  Although you could use the nicotinic acid (niacin) form of vitamin B3, this will cause you to flush red for a few minutes after each dose, as a side-effect for the first week or so.  This doesn’t happen with the niacinamide form of vitamin B3.
